A rebuild that leaves his voice alone

Reese trades NQ futures and runs a Discord of around 7,000 people. His site was hand coded and tidy enough, but it was not selling anything. I rebuilt it on spec.

  1. The problem

    One structure, three times in a row

    The real problem was not how the site looked. It was that one structure ran three times: an eyebrow, an oversized headline, three equal cards. For the deals, for the steps, and for the socials. That repetition is exactly what made it read as templated, and restyling it would have produced a prettier version of the same problem.

    Affiliate cards with no logo

    The affiliate cards are his entire revenue, and not one of them carried the firm logo. Asking someone to sign up to a company whose brand they cannot see does not convert.

    No proof, and links that landed dead

    Nowhere on the site was there proof that any of it worked. On top of that the share preview tags were missing, and his business runs on Discord: every link he dropped there unfurled as a bare grey card. The favicon 404ed and the nav ran off the screen on a phone.

  2. What I did

    A form of its own for every section

    Every section got its own structural form instead of the same one three times. His identity stayed put: the same dark and amber, and about 90% of his own words.

    The logos onto the cards that earn

    The firm logos went onto the affiliate cards, because that is where the money comes from. It was the smallest change on the page and probably the most expensive one to have left alone.

    Real proof, nothing invented

    When I was asked to invent winners for the proof section I declined. He supplied real screenshots from his own Discord instead, and those are far stronger. In the strip every tile shares a height and nothing is cropped, because when the image is the evidence you cannot cut any of it away.

    Share tags, a favicon and a nav that fits

    Share preview tags added, so a link in Discord unfurls with an image and a title. A working favicon. And a nav that stays on screen at 390 pixels.

  3. The result

    Reese got back a site that does something different in each section instead of the same thing three times, with the firm logos on the cards his revenue comes from and real proof from his own Discord on the page. Handed over as 26 files that drop straight onto a host, with a readme so he can update the proof strip himself without me.
